William Cave Day
Biography
Painter of genre and landscapes in oils and watercolours. Born in Dewsbury. Studied in Paris and Herkomer’s School in Bushey. Elected RBA in 1903. He lived in Harrogate and painted many views of Knaresborough and other local subjects. Exhibited frequently at the RBA and occasionally at the RA. In the last few years of his life he lived in Cornwall. Literature: A Dictionary of Yorkshire artists, Harry Turnbull, Bedale, 1976.
