Pierre Outin
Biography
Pierre Outin was a painter of genre and of portraits. He was born in Moulins in 1840 and died in 1899 in Paris.
Outin is famed for his own distinctive style which demonstrates a feeling for light and colour and offers a delicate sensuousness and lyric grace that is rarely seen with other painters of this subject.
Among Outin's favorite subjects were fashionable outdoor gatherings, known as fêtes galantes (French for "scenes of gallantry"), in which elegant court ladies and gentlemen pass their time among trees and shrubbery.
Outin had as his masters, Lecointe and Chabanel. He made his debut at the Salon in Paris in 1868.
The museum of Moulins has a painting by him entitled “Episode de la deroute de Quiberon”.
