Luigi Bechi

Biography

Luigi Bechi was an Italian painter, born in Florence. He studied under professors Bezzuoli and Pollastrini and was awarded medals for his work, which was mainly in Florence. He also exhibited his paintings at Suffolk Street in London in 1879.

Bechi’s vision of rural life is delectable, favouring children set amongst their secure family surroundings. With his warm range of colours he would craft some of the most important canvases to have come out of Italy during the late 19th Century. Each canvas proved extremely individual and unique with their level of sentiment. His attractive and well observed models echo space and relate perfectly to one another to give the viewer a story to translate.

The Museums of Florence, Genes and Madrid hold works by Bechi.
