Herbert Menzies Marshall
Biography
Herbert Menzies Marshall was a London topographical painter and watercolourist and architect.
He was a Member of the Royal Watercolour Society and a Member of the Royal Society of Painters and Etchers.
Marshall was a pupil of the French architect, Questel. He was a professor of landscape painting at Queen’s College, London and exhibited his works from 1871 to 1893 at the Old Watercolour Society (277 works), the Royal Academy, Suffolk Street and elsewhere.
Marshall produced several series of topographical watercolours, eg: “The Scenery of London” and “Cathedral Cities of France”.
Exhibitions of the artist’s work were held at the Fine Art Society in 1886 and at the Abbey Gallery in 1935.
