Cornelius Pearson & Thomas Francis Wainwright 

Biography

Thomas Francis Wainwright was a landscape painter who lived in London.

He was a prolific painter who exhibited over 200 works at Suffolk Street. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1832 and 1862, the British Institution and elsewhere. Works at the Royal Academy include many landscape sketches and studies.

Cornelius Pearson was a landscape and topographical painter and also an engraver. He was born at Boston, Lincolnshire and went to London at an early age where upon he apprenticed to an engraver. He then began to paint, mainly in watercolour.

Pearson exhibited 145 works at Suffolk Street between 1843 and 1879, 4 at the Royal Academy from 1845 until 1872 and also at the New Watercolour Society and elsewhere. He was one of the oldest members of the Langham Sketching Club. Two of his views of Wales are in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Wainewright and Pearson had a long-standing friendship and were known to collaborate on many paintings. Pearson did the landscape and Wainewright did the sheep and cattle.
