Charles Stuart
Biography
Charles Stuart was a painter of fruit, still life and landscapes. He was known to have lived and worked in and around Stepney and Gravesend. He was married to Miss. J. M. Bowkett, the genre painter.
Stuart exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1859 and 1868, and also at the British Institution between 1854 and 1867. Titles at the Royal Academy include “Fruit” 1859, “The Baron’s Dessert” 1861, and “Parian Vase and Fruit” 1862.
He must have been an artist of unwearied application and unconquerable patience, for the bloom of his fruit, in all their varieties, is represented with a microscopic accuracy.
