Louis Charles Auguste Steinheil
Biography
Louis Charles Auguste Steinheil was born in Strasbourg. He was an accomplished artist becoming known for his engravings, historical scenes, portraits, and genre paintings.
Steinheil entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1883 whre he was a pupil of Decaisne and David d’Angers. He made his debut at the Salon in 1836 where he won a medal in 1847. He also won a second class medal at the Universal Exhibition in 1848.
His work can be seen at the Museum of Nantes.
